Stories and highlights
There's always something to celebrate at our school! From exciting events to proud moments and everyday wins, here are some of our highlights.
A year at our school
Aboriginal Mural Meaning –
Our mural is a reflection of the area on which our school sits, home to the Cabrogal Clan of the Dharug nation. These were the traditional custodians who once walked these lands in search of food, water and shelter. The vibrant patterns, river, symbols and animal tracks all reflect this. The meeting place symbol represents the school as a place of learning, with the staff on the outside and the students on the inside, represented by seven people symbols each being a year group from kindy to year six. The old and mighty gum tree in the mural represents our Bonnyrigg Heights families. From when we begin school and finish, the tree remembers all the stories of time gone by.The goanna is a totem animal for the Dharug people and is seen as an ancestral guardian and symbol of resilience, adaptation and survival. The possum is another Dharug totem with significance as its fur is used to carry and cradle babies to keep them warm from the cold.
Serbian Showcase –
The BHPS annual Serbian Showcase for 2025 was a celebration of our diverse school culture and provided the opportunity to recognise our talented students, staff and community.
Roar and Snore Year 4 Camp –
Our Year 4 students had an exciting adventure at the Roar and Snore camp at Taronga Zoo early in September. They loved going behind the scenes to learn about the animals, enjoyed sleeping in tents under the stars, and were thrilled by the seal and bird shows. It was a fun and memorable experience for everyone involved!
Student Leadership Initiative –
Our school leaders introduced a new wellbeing initiative to support kindness and care amongst students and staff. Students gave compliment cards to their peers and teachers to recognise the impact others have on us.
Mural painting –
Our talented students are busy working with local Aboriginal artist, Michael Fardon, to design and create a storytelling mural representing our local community.
K-2 Athletics Carnival –
On September 23, our K-2 students and students from the support unit had a wonderful time participating in our athletics carnival. The day was filled with excitement and smiles as students took part in a variety of fun and inclusive activities. Events included parachute games, modified javelin, discus, shot put, sprints, and relays, all designed to ensure everyone could join in and enjoy.
Athletics Carnival –
Our students enjoy participating in school athletics, developing their skills, staying active, and having fun while learning the value of teamwork and healthy competition.
Swimming Carnival –
Our student competitors at the Swimming Carnival show great determination and team spirit as they race to achieve their personal best in the pool.
